M’Hamid El Ghizlane (Arabic: Ù…Øاميد الغزلان), often shortened to M’Hamid, is a remote desert village in the Zagora Province, southeast Morocco. It is considered the last oasis town before the vast Sahara begins, making it a popular gateway for camel treks and desert excursions to Erg Chigaga, one of Morocco’s largest and most untouched sand dune regions.
M’Hamid offers an authentic Saharan experience, blending ancient nomadic culture, Berber traditions, and peaceful desert life far from the hustle of modern cities.
