Day Trip Fes

Fez is a city in northeastern Morocco often considered the cultural capital of the country. It is mainly famous for the fortified medina of Fes El Bali, with medieval Merinid architecture, bustling souks, and an old-fashioned atmosphere. The medina is home to religious schools such as the Medersas Bou Inania and Al Attarine dating from the 14th century, both decorated with carved cedar panels and delicate mosaics.

Pick-up at 09:30 in the morning at your hotel or residence by our professional bilingual driver.

You will meet your local guide for a tour of the medina and the main historical site.

Start the visit at Bab Boujloud, one of the gates that lead to the medina. Visit some of the beautiful old buildings such as the Madrasa Bou Inania and El-Attarine, the Koranic schools of religious studies, as well as the university and the mosque of Al-Karaouine. Visit the Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts and see traditional tools, carpets, furniture and musical instruments in a beautifully restored caravanserai.

After a lunch break in one of the hundreds of restaurants in the medina, continue to the famous tanneries, where leather is still processed as it was hundreds of years ago. Watch workers from a booth and learn about the different jobs, and even bargain for a new bag or belt later.

Outside the medina is the Royal Palace with its large plaza lined with palm trees. Finally, climb the hill to the cemetery of Bab Fettouh and enjoy the panoramic view of the White Sea from the houses of the medina.

Meet your driver for the return trip in the evening.
